Tis the Season!

Enjoying the Island.

I don't think I would have ever dreamed to be in such an amazing place as the San Juan Island.  I got through my month of ferry rides, and now am officially on the Island which is wonderful.  My house is cute and quite out in the woods.

I figured out my wood stove, it only took me a week and a good insightful conversation from Nicole's coworker Jon; and now I'm a master.

People are overwhelming friendly, including my amazing co-worker Heidi.  I've been invited to join in for weekly dinners at her house and I'm dog sitting for her this weekend.  I was in the paper again this week, so I continue to be told everywhere I go...."I saw you in the paper or your face looks so familiar"  from complete strangers

I have not seen the Island Camel yet, but i'm looking forward to discovering it! It is still on the Island somewhere Kathy.

Happy Holidays Everyone.  I'm off to Josh and Nicoles for Christmas for some Merry Mimosas on Christmas Morning!

On The Road Again!

This blog is about to change from my Wyoming Adventure to my San Juan Island adventure.  I'm sitting here on my last day at work, anxious to get on the road, my only deterant, is the lunch that a few co-workers are taking me for and the drinks they promised this evening.

Too excited about the rain back home and getting to see the ocean and the beautiful colombia river to care if I get nothing done on my last day of work!

The VAn is packed, San Juan Island is waiting for thier new sports and outdoor specialist.

Wyoming, You haven't always been good to me, but you've been beauftiful. Keep it classy!

Rocky Mountain High

I got to see one of my best friends this last weekend, for a little mini vacation!
It was a weekend of Firsts for Me!
I flew on a plane by myself for the first time
I got lost in the Denver Airport for the First time
It was my first time to ever be in Colorado
and it was my first Hike in the Rocky Mountains
We decided to head over to Estes Park, Colorado for the Day to see Rocky Mountain National Park
Casey (My Friend) said he had not had much chance yet to really see the scenery since he had moved their.
This is Bear lake! Located at the bottom of the hiking trail

Casey deciding whether or not he was a spider monkey or simply human, the rock was very slippery from the snow melt

1/2 Pants, clearly I was unprepared for the fact that it had been snowing.

This is emerald lake!  At the Top of the Trail, We Made It, We Made It, and it was very worth it!

The First Snow

It decided to snow last Friday...It brings to mind one of those, you know you're in wyoming when, jokes someone told me before I moved here.  It of course was pretty much melted by morning and is supposed to be warm the rest of the week, but it's still impressive nonetheless that we have snow on the ground before the first week of October Ends.  Happy Monday Everyone!

HAPPY FALL

Ok.  So I got Lazy and Haven't Updated in a while.  But here are my Top Three Amazing Things that Kicked off My Fall Just RIGHT!!!
Ian, Aunt Shelly, and Mom came to Visit for Labor Day Weekend.  We had fun traveling about, seeing Ft Phil Kearney, The Brewery, and Of Course the preserved Dino Tracks near Grey Bull Wyoming!
I Attended WYO-RPA, Where we got to see the Museum of the Moutain Man.  It was very interesting, and there were of course lots of things that had do not touch signs that I in fact touched.  I may or may not have been slightly intoxicated :)
And Lastly, Nothing Keeps My Fall Moving Forward Like a Pumpkin Spice Latte from Starbucks.  I love You STARBUCKS!

An Ode To All The Recies

I Remember once this Girl I know posted on her blog about Rec-Style
You Could pick a Coordinator out of the crowd if they were working.
I went to work the other night looking like this and I thought the moment was worth capturing

Can I Get An Amen

The Pool is Finally Closed for the Summer.  Hallelujah!
Who knew I could run a swimming pool?
I certainly did not until I undertook the challenge this summer.
After never really having employees of my own
It's pretty impressive that I got put in charge of a $100,000 budget and 25 staff memebers
I'm proud that I made it through the summer with only minimal scarring :)
Every Year the last day the pool is open we have Dog Swim!
I think this pic alone made the whole summer worth it.
Kid on a leash/Dog on a Leash? What's the Difference?

Happy Early Birthday To Me!

Happy Birthday To Me!
These beauts were sitting on my door step today when I went home for lunch!
I knew my mom loved me.  They are exactly what I wanted :)
What a great surprise to a day that was otherwise pretty hectic.
1 week exactly to the ripe age of 24 and flying by the seat of my pants as usual!

My Lifeguards are the BEST!

These are just a few of my trustee lifeguards.  I think of them as my children.  They both drive me crazy and fill my life with happiness almost everyday.  This last week was Rodeo Week, every year there is a rodeo parade, and the Sheridan Rec District participates in the Bed Races.  We took 2nd place this year in the bed races and only had one mishap with a runner eating concrete in the first heat.  Thankfully she had little more injury than road rash and bruised pride.  I could not be more proud of them.

More American Than Kevin Costner!

Cousin Jessica and I had an all American Kind of Week,  We spent the weekend adventuring as usual, We traveled into South Dakota to see some amazing national parks, monuments and memorials. First We saw Crazy horse monument, which isn't complete yet, cost too much money to see, and all in all wasn't that exciting, but i'm glad i got to see it.
Then we traveled further into the Black Hills and went to Mt Rushmore.  This was hands down one of the coolest things that I have ever seen.  Around this time in our trip Jess and I decided that we should video diary the fun we were having.  But watching it back later it's a little embarrassing.

Then we headed for Sturgis, driving through Rapid City, SD.  We stopped at the target.  I was having withdrawls because there is only a Walmart here in Sheridan.  After Target, we got into Sturgis and we stopped at the harley shop and bought t-shirts. Gotta have the t-shirt.
Then we preceeded onto Deadwood, SD, home of a casino owned by Kevin Costner, the Midnight STAR.  Jessica and i tried to find mr costner because I'm sure we are destined to be together, but no luck, so maybe next time.

While In deadwood we visited the Mt Moriah Cemetery that is home to the resting place of Wild Bill and Calamity Jane.  Rumored to have been having a love affair, Calamilty Jane's dieing wish was to to burried next to wild bill.

We camped in deadwood for the night and then preceeded through spearfish canyon in the morning, where we saw roughlock falls and a film sight for Dances with Wolves.
And then as our trip neared its end and we traveled back into wyoming we found it only fitting that we should stop at Devils tower.  Such Beautiful Country we traveled through.  I'm so excited to have finally gotten to see so much of it, even if it was a short period of time.

A Little Adventure With Cousin Jessica

Jess and I took a few little adventures this last week, One to Tounge River Resevoir, where they have this sweet dam, and one to Buffalo, WYO which is only 30 minutes away and is home to Fort Phil Kearny, in this Battle at fort kearny, there were no survivors.  Believe it, I read it on the Monument.
DAAAMMMMMM!

Cleaning the Sand Filter

Pools are Gross
The other day I received the honor of cleaning both sand filters for the main pool and the baby pool.  And Oh what an honor it is.  You have to climb up the little ladder, take the top off that has a wrench sticking off it, reach in and unscrew random parts and pieces and then start cleaning all the dirty cotton off the top of that sand, so the pool will work correctly.  Then to get the lid back on and sealed correctly you have to use this goop, called magic lube.  It gets everywhere!

The Sand I cleaned out of the big filter

This is what your entire shirt looks like after you clean a sand filter.  The Joys of being a Recreation Professional.  Now I'm off to clean the pool vacuum :)

Saturday's A Shopping Day!

Jess and I hit the town on Saturday after I fixed some minor issues at the pool in the morning.

We went into every shop that I hadn't visited yet and walked through a few that I already know and love.

I was super excited to find these new earrings, that I immediatlty put on in this store called Bella Bling.

I never walked in there because I thought it was an expensive jewelry store, but come to find out, they have great stuff in there for super cheap.

Some of it was gody and amazing and other stuff was classicly beautiful for a cheap-skate price.

Gotta Love Shopping Day!

My Favorite Cousin

Cousins are the Best

Making Dinner, Jess Uses the Larget Knife possible to put into the smallest butter container
Jess told me about this really awesome way to make a coffee concentrate in large quantities.  It lasts quite a while and it's super easy to then make iced coffee with.  She didn't like that I was spending $4 a day on buying coffee.  I don't blame her. I didn't like it either.

I made Jess Banana Chocolate Chip pancakes for Father's Day Breakfast.

OLD FAITHFUL!

Sheridan Zoo

You Know You live in Wyoming When,

The Local zoo only has Elk and Buffalo. :)

The Building down below in the picture is the Kendrick Park Pool.

It's one of the facilities I run in town.  We share a fence with this "Buffalo Enclosure"

The Assistant Managers at the pool told me, they are always a little worried that one of these days the buffalo are going to come through the fence.  I hope that never happens when i'm here.

At least they always put a smile on my face.

Pure Disgusting!

This is the Kenrick Pool!

Every Year it has to be cleaned out before the summer season of swim begins.

What's in the pool is 9 months of leaves, settled guck, duck poop and eggs, some kind of microbial worm things, algae, frogs, and anything else thats equally as disgusting that you may think of!

And yes, I had to wade out into it to pull the big plug, hoping the pool would drain faster.  I think you can see the joy on my face.

I scrubbed in the shower for a good hour, and I'm pretty sure i'm still not clean.

Disgusting!!!!!!!!

Some Things to Know About Wyoming!

Look at how close I got to this Bunny,  There are a family of bunnies that live outside my apartment and they are fearless.  Gotta Love that!!!

Some things you should know about living in Wyoming (My 3 weeks of Wisdom)

1) Bison, Buffalo, Deer, Big Horned Goats, and Elk are all suicidal.  They will jump in front of your car and they will demolish your car.  This has not occured to me yet, but my boss and I have a system.  If I call him Crying, he'll know I hit an animal and he needs to come get me!

2) You do NOT have to have a permit to carry concealed in the State of Wyoming, Don't get in a finght with anyone at the bar, they might have a gun in their boot .....EEK!

3) There is NO alcohol sold in the grocery stores here, you have to go to the liqour store for even beer and wine, fortuanlty for me, they have drive thru window liquor stores, and just about 1 liquor store every five blocks.

4) RODEO Week is a BIG! Deal.  End of Discussion

Limited knowledge but still all good things to know :)

I know i've been bad about keeping you posted...Apartment Pictures Soon To Come!

Loving and Missing you All!
